Biochemistry Laboratory / Fermentation Technology Laboratory / Microbiology Laboratory / Molecular Biology Laboratory

A very well equipped laboratory suited to the needs of the biotechnology curriculum and basic research work, temperature controlled and designed to follow Bio-safety norms. 
The laboratory has a plethora of sophisticated instruments, which are required for biochemistry experiments, like UV Spectrophotometer, Visible Spectrophotometer, Sonicator, Centrifuge, Chromatography kits, Gel electrophoresis units for separation of protein and DNA. In addition, there are Reverse Osmosis and Ultrafiltration units for protein separation and purification.
Two large laminar flow cabinets provide the aseptic conditions for experiments of Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics. The laboratory can boast of a large collection of Bacterial and Fungal cultures, which are maintained regularly in Refrigerators, and a Deep Freezer specially fabricated for this purpose. Students are provided with the latest versions of Binocular Microscopes for observing stained Bacterial specimens. The Bioreactors in the Fermentation Technology Laboratory are fitted with the latest versions of pH meters, DO meters and Membrane filters. Autoclaves are used for sterilizing glassware, discarded materials, lab coats etc.

Engineering Chemistry Laboratory

Equipped with a wide range of chemicals, glassware's and instruments, this laboratory has the provision of quantitative analysis essential for engineering students. The tests include determination of hardness of water, determination of amount of a certain metal in its ore, determination of concentration of a substance in a solution and so on.

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

The objective of this Laboratory is to make the students conversant with the Fluid Mechanical equipments, some of which are used to verify the different theoretical propositions, while a few measure primary quantities like Flow-rate, local velocities & others to understand the performance of the commonly used equipments like fluid moving devices, packed bed, fluidized bed, etc.

Heat Transfer Laboratory

Heat Transfer laboratory has experimental set-ups on determination of thermal conductivity and temperature profiles of solids. The facilities exist for determination of heat transfer coefficient in double-pipe, shell and tube and plate type heat exchangers and performance evaluation of double effect evaporator along with experiments on film wise and drop wise condensation.

Mechanical Operations Laboratory

Mechanical Operations Laboratory is equipped with primary crushers, grinders, ultrafine grinders, screw conveyors, froth floatation and mineral jig. Centrifugal separator has been provided to carry out operations particularly useful to Chemical and Environmental Engineering processes.

Energy Laboratory

The Energy Laboratory is a fully equipped with experimental set-ups on fuel and combustion engineering including facilities for testing of coal and petroleum products using both conventional and modern techniques and Gas Chromatography. Experiments viz., flat plate collector and solar cooker have been incorporated to implant a solid-knowledge base on renewable energy sources.

Instrumental Method & Analysis Laboratory

Here the students are familiarized with the Industrial quality testing instruments, which are used to measure the basic parameters like concentration, turbidity, refractive index, photometric properties etc. The students are taught about how the instruments are operated and caliberated.
